Newbridge Primary Care Psychology Service offers a free and confidential advice clinic for parents/guardians in the Newbridge/Kilcullen area who would like advice from a psychologist about any aspect of parenting.

What is a parent’s advice drop-in clinic?

Primary Care Psychology Service provides a twice monthly advice clinic to parents or guardians who wish to seek advice from a Psychologist, regarding any aspect of their child’s development, behaviour, or well-being. The types of concerns often discussed can include dealing with tantrums, emotional regulation skills for children and behaviour difficulties. You will be offered advice on ways to deal with your concern and may be offered some written suggestions.

How do they work?

Typically, the ‘Parent Advice Drop-in Clinics’ run in the Newbridge Primary Care Centre; however, due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic these are currently taking place over the phone with Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Lisa Harpur.

The clinic runs on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month between 10am – 12pm.

How do I avail of the service?

Parents who wish to attend the advice clinic should contact the Newbridge Primary care centre via reception on (045) 920900 in advance of the clinic day (the Monday or Tuesday prior is best). You will be given a 30-minute time slot for the Wednesday (between 10 am and 12pm) and Lisa will call you at the arranged time on the number you provide. There are four slots at every clinic, and it is first-come-first-served.

Athy CFRC supports individuals and families living in Athy across the lifespan. We provide a range of family support and community development services. Some of the services we offer are: signposting, referrals to appropriate services, providing information and advice, support with form filling and navigating services, social clubs, counselling, parent support and various workshops and training.

Meitheal is a case co-ordination process for families with additional needs who require multi-agency intervention but who do not meet the threshold for referral to the Social Work Department under Childrens First. Practioners in different agencies can use and lead on Meitheal so that they can communicate and work together more effectively to bring together a range of expertise, knowledge and skills to meet the needs of the child and family within the community.

Every Family Resource Centre was established to provide a range of supports that help families meet the day-to-day challenges of everyday life. Newbridge Family Resource Centre aims to provide a wide variety of quality services within Family Support, Community Development a Childcare Service, a Counselling Service as well as Information Provision and Advocacy.
The field of Family support is central to the work which we carry out in the Centre. Family Support is seen to be both a style of work and a set of activities which reinforce positive informal social networks. Our focus is on early intervention and we aim to promote and protect the health and wellbeing of all children and young people in their own homes and communities, with particular attention to those who are vulnerable or at risk.
The staff of Newbridge Family Resource Centre work closely with families to provide the service that responds to their needs.

Engage with 12 to 18 year old youths who are referred to the Juvenile Diversion Programme by Gardaí for offending.

The Kildare County Childcare Committee was established in 2001.
Our mission is to promote quality and accessible childcare provision for all children from birth to 14 years
in Co. Kildare, in partnership with all stakeholders.

FAIM are the Family Assessment & Intervention Model. We carry out child welfare assessments on behalf of Tusla, the Child and Family Agency. We also offer a broad range of interventions with parent's and young people.

The Ability Programme works with young people aged between 16-19 who have a disability, illness or injury and are not in education. The service works on a 1:1 basis to support young people to great personal action plans and engage in relevant services.

Newbridge Family Resource Centre provides quality affordable services and programmes to the community of Newbridge through family support, community development, childcare services and the provision of information and support.

We specialise in the following:
- The provision of family support through one to one meetings & parenting programmes.
- The establishment and maintenance of new community groups to meet local needs and the delivery of services at local level (for example, childcare facilities, after-school clubs, men?s groups, etc.)
- Practical assistance to community groups (such as training, information, advice on how to address specific social issues, assistance with accessing funding and use of shared facilities).
- Education courses and training opportunities.
- Early Years Services including ECCE Scheme (Early Childhood Care and Education Scheme - free Pre-School place), CCS (Community Childcare Subvention) Programme & a Parent & Toddler Group.
- After-school clubs.
- The provision of counselling and support to individuals.
- Developing capacity and leadership within communities.
- Supporting personal and group development.
- Supporting networking within the community.
