Do you have questions such as ‘how do I deal with my child’s behaviour?’, ‘how do I help my child with their worries?’ or ‘how can I help my child sleep better?’. The Parent Advice Drop-in Clinic can help! Newbridge Primary Care Psychology Service offers a free and confidential advice clinic for parents/guardians in the Newbridge/Kilcullen area who would like advice from a psychologist about any aspect of parenting. What is a parent’s advice drop-in clinic? Primary Care Psychology Service provides a twice monthly advice clinic to parents or guardians who wish to seek advice from a Psychologist, regarding any aspect of their child’s development, behaviour, or well-being. The types of concerns often discussed can include dealing with tantrums, emotional regulation skills for children and behaviour difficulties. You will be offered advice on ways to deal with your concern and may be offered some written suggestions. How do they work? Typically, the ‘Parent Advice Drop-in Clinics’ run in the Newbridge Primary Care Centre; however, due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic these are currently taking place over the phone with Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Lisa Harpur. The clinic runs on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month between 10am – 12pm. How do I avail of the service? Parents who wish to attend the advice clinic should contact the Newbridge Primary care centre via reception on (045) 920900 in advance of the clinic day (the Monday or Tuesday prior is best). You will be given a 30-minute time slot for the Wednesday (between 10 am and 12pm) and Lisa will call you at the arranged time on the number you provide.
